Wasted Contenders are Berlin-based duo with very wide approach to electronic music. Their debut album “Shown Up Lately" comprises of slower moody, almost acoustically sounding tracks as well as raw uptempo electro bangers. Sharp synthesis is spilled all over, sometimes making you think that this hectic world nowadays is just plain funny and absurd, like in the “Mickey Moloch" track for example. In fact, whole album feels like soundtrack to big city-all day work-money-driven life. You can listen to “Over Unity Device" track and just watch all those people and cars rushing through the streets constantly. In such way, “Shown Up Lately" reminds of Dust Brothers’ work on Fight Club little bit, and in fact perfectly reassembles overall spirit of the novel itself. After all, everyone is wasted contender.
